Scopo del progetto è stato quello di creare l'identità visiva di una nazione non riconosciuta, i Khmer Krom*.
Per rinforzare la loro lotta abbiamo sviluppato un linguaggio che riprendesse e reinterpretasse il linguaggio artistico dei Khmer Krom, adottando un approccio semplice e accattivante per coinvolgere in particolare il pubblico occidentale; il motivo per cui le persone non sono a conoscenza degli avvenimenti che interessano i Khmer Krom non è perchè non sono state in grado di trovare informazioni nel momento in cui sono andate a cercarle, quasi certamente è perchè non le hanno proprio cercate.
*La cultura dei Khmer Krom (letteralmente Cambogiani del sud) affonda le proprie radici in quella cambogiana. Nonostante questo legame nel 1949 i territori della Kampuchea Krom (sul delta del Mekong) furono incorporati al Vietnam dai colonialisti francesi.

The purpose of the project was to create a sistem of visual elements able to define and communicate the identity of Khmer Krom.
Khmer Krom culture is roothed in Cambodian one but despite the close relationship fostered with people living in Cambodia over the year, in 1949 the territory of Kampuchea Krom (along the Mekong's delta) was incorporated with Vietnam by French colonists.
Under a policy of forced assimilation, Khmer Krom have suffered from religious persecution and ethnic discrimination.
Khmer Krom, in the utmost indifference, struggle with local manifestations and try to act in the istitutional way.
To reinforce their struggle, we developed a visual identity that evoke and reinterpreted Camdonian Art and embrace a friendly and easy way to envolve especially the occidental public; people ignore Khmer Krom not because they can't find informations, but becausae they neither search it.
Elemento forte della nostra comunicazione sono le maschere. Presenti in motli esempi di arte muraria Khmer e negli spettacoli teatrali, le maschere sono formate da un numero di elementi potenzialmente sempre in crescita e personalizzabili.
Senza essere logo, la maschera diventa un elemento di riconoscimento, nonostante di per sè nasca per essere sempre diversa.
One of the strongest elements of our language are the masks. Present in many forms of art and in the theater performances, they are constituted by a number of elements potentially always growing and customizable. Without being logo mask becomes a recognition element, despite it is designed to be always different.
Attraverso il sito si invita il pubblico occidentale a segnalare la propria solidarietà per i Khmer Krom con un gesto molto semplice. Pensiamo infatti che semplicemente registrare l'attenzione dell'Occidente verso questa popolazione possa essere un valido sostegno per la loro lotta.
Attraverso il sito si vuole dare anche risalto al network delle comunità Khmer Krom in giro per il mondo che attraverso l'organizzazione di eventi ed iniziative possono contribuire alla conoscenza di tale popolazione.
The site invites the Western public to report their sympathy for the Khmer Krom through a very simple gesture. In fact we think that simply record the attention of the West to this population can be a valuable support for their struggle.

Per rendere accattivante l'identità visiva dei Khmer Krom sono stati creati una serie di artefatti, ponte tra la cultura Khmer e quella occidentale.
Tra questi, un'agenda che riporta una doppia lettura del calendario; da una parte il calendario gregoriano, dall'altro quello lunisolare della tradizione Khmer.
Una serie di piccoli volumi (per cui sono stati realizzati una serie di pattern che richiamano il mondo visivo fino a qui delineato) riportano il Milindapanha, un testo della religione buddista.

Il gioco Non t'arrabbiare è stato reinterpretato attraverso il linguaggio visivo Khmer Krom e all'estetica dell'artefatto si affianca una diversa chiave di lettura del gioco: il percorso della tavola viene presentato come un esercizio di meditazione per raggiungere la saggezza buddhista, il Nirvana.
